L'Iowa Review è una rivista letteraria americana che pubblica narrativa, poesia, saggi e recensioni.
Storia e profilo
Fondata nel 1970, Iowa Review viene pubblicata tre volte l'anno, nei mesi di aprile, agosto e dicembre. In origine, è stato rilasciato su base trimestrale. Questa frequenza di pubblicazione durò fino al quattordicesimo anno. È pubblicato presso l'Università dell'Iowa a Iowa City . Secondo l'ex editore David Hamilton, The Iowa Review ha una tiratura di circa 3.000 copie, di cui 1.000-1.500 distribuite alle principali catene di librerie.
Il periodo di lettura per gli invii non richiesti si verifica tra settembre e novembre, mentre gli invii per il concorso per gli Iowa Review Awards vengono letti a gennaio. Oltre allo spazio dedicato nel numero di dicembre ai vincitori dell'Iowa Review Awards, la rivista ha recentemente presentato il lavoro della conferenza semestrale NonfictioNow dell'Università dell'Iowa e degli scrittori dell'International Writing Program dell'Università dell'Iowa . I numeri passati sono stati anche dedicati ad argomenti come la narrativa israeliana e palestinese (11.1), le scrittrici contemporanee (12.2/3) e un omaggio a Ezra Pound (15.1). Secondo il sito web della rivista, "Selezioniamo la maggior parte dei nostri contenuti dalle diverse migliaia di manoscritti non richiesti che arrivano ogni anno da tutto il paese e dall'estero". Iowa Review Awards
Ogni anno, a partire dal 2003 (33.3), la rivista presenta l'Iowa Review Award ai vincitori del concorso di narrativa, poesia e saggistica letteraria. I giudici esterni nominano i vincitori, che ricevono ciascuno 1.500 dollari e vengono pubblicati, insieme ad alcuni finalisti, nel numero di dicembre della rivista.
